Default The Peddler

This'd be a great asset for PVE and would be similar to the PVE skills like celestial skills, lightbringer skills, or sunspear rebirth signet, but instead of being core skills, it's a secondary that people can bring along to have a little extra assisstance out in the battle field, merchant-wise. Everyone would get it, but it'd have to be leveled up through the Wisdom and Treasure Hunter title tracks along with it's own special title track.

Since this works a little different than other classes and is purely PVE only, the class has no fighting skills and you can not put attribute points into the class's attributes. Instead depending on your title in different titles you'll have different attributes.

Attributes: Wisdom, Locksmithing, and Miscellaneous

Wisdom, no inherent effect unless you count the title's effect. For each tier in the Wisdom title you gain 2 points in this attribute.

Locksmithing, no inherent effect unless you count the title's effect. For each tier in the Wisdom title you gain 2 points in this attribute.

Miscellaneous, no inherent effect. For each tier in the Drunkard title and for each point gifted to you by special miscellaneous means, you gain 1 point in this attribute.

Skills:

Smelt Key: 1 sec cast, 5 sec recharge. Signet. Target ally is prompted to smelt up to 1,500 gp into a key for the closest chest. This signet doesn't recharge if it's been used 8...32 times. (attrib: Locksmithing)

Unrivaled Sight: 5 energy, 3 sec cast, 120 sec recharge. Enchantment Spell. Target ally is enchanted with Unrivaled Sight for 5...15 seconds. The next item that player double clicks on is identified and they lose 5 gp. (attrib: Wisdom)

Summon Ghostly Merchant: 25 energy, 6 sec cast. Rift Ritual. You summon a Ghostly Merchant at your location who can sell normal goods at an inflated price and can purchase items from players for 30...126 seconds. This skill can only be recharged by a morale boost. (attrib: Wisdom)

Drunken Audacity: 10 energy, 60 sec recharge. Stance. For 5...20 seconds your screen becomes blurred and you attack and use skills 25% slower. When this stance ends naturally, you become enchanted with Hangover for 5...20 seconds which causes you to attack and use skills 33% faster. (attrib: Miscellaneous)

Teleport: 25 energy, 3 sec cast, 10 sec recharge. Enchantment Spell. Target ally is enchanted with Teleport for 0...12 seconds. The next item that ally double clicks is teleported to their xunlai agent storage account if there is open space. (attrib: Locksmithing)

Alchemize: 15 energy, 2 sec cast. Enchantment Spell. Target ally can choose any amount of their items to be turned into their merchant sale price of gold. This skill recharges upon gaining 500...250 experience. (attrib: Wisdom)

Hidden Stash: 6 sec cast. Rift Ritual. You summon a chest at your location that can trade normal and rare materials at a slightly higher price for 30...126 seconds. (attrib: Locksmithing)

Keen Eye: 5 energy, 1/4 sec cast, 5 recharge. Skill. Target's strengths and weaknesses are displayed to the user and you gain +1 health regeneration for 10...30 seconds. (attrib: Miscellaneous)

Detect Metal: 25 energy, 2 sec cast. Skill. All chests within 2 compass lengths will ping on the map once each second for 2...12 seconds. (attrib: Locksmithing)

We Have The Technology: 10 energy, 6 sec cast, 10 recharge. Spell. Target non player character is resurrected at 10...60% health, unless upon that npc's death you failed a mission or quest or it kicks you out of the UW or something. Tough luck, not that advanced tech. (attrib: Miscellaneous)

Break Away: 25 energy, 240 sec recharge. Stance. As long as you are moving this stance doesn't end and you have -10 health and energy degeneration. All foes in the area are no longer aggrivated by you, stop moving and won't attack you if you're in their danger zone.

When I made this class I had all the endgame large areas in mind since you're pretty much going without having any kind of stopping point in a long time. Groups clearing these areas out could make benefit of bringing along a travelling merchant in place of someone who only deals damage, while still contributing to the team.

Actually this is kind of interesting... something along these lines would be good for PvE when it gets more vast. This would work the best if ArenaNet started introducing MMO's with more depth and less strealmlining. Not saying that streamlinging is bad. Anyway nice job on this.

Yeah, I don't like the name I chose because I kind of had some ideas to make it so that this class would have a use in PVE like for lighting dim hallways in a dark dungeon, or even for using skills in any campaigns acquired like the hex Vial of Purified Water or Disarm Trap, just for the sake of having them all around, and maybe using under other circumstances.

a pve only character basically? no :P

Edit. On second thought. Having this as secondary only would be interesting.

Can I be a Primary/Secondary/Peddler?

i.e. the skills of the Peddler profession is considered as a bonus.

No, I don't think this possible to be a ternary profession simply because it is too powerful with too many extra skills to be added on without taking away something else. Just realize the skills I put aren't all that the class has, but a general look at what they have since I wanted people to read through the entire thing.

how a bout a "safe haven" where the players could change 0...4 skills and 1...40 attribute points, and it could only recarge with a morale bosst

I don't want it to do what hopefulliness is describing, and not really what evilways is describing either really, although the redbull isn't a bad idea, daze is more of a monk profession thing.

Default hum... how about this twist

I honestly don't see a-net making this a new profession. however, I believe it highly likely that this could be introduced as a title scheme like the lightbringer track. I kno that's what u said but it wou'd be simplified somewhat to a single title such as merchanting, one could gain points in this by say... aquisition of rare items from chests or probably more along the lines of a massive ammount of rare items sold to the merchant. btw i love the res for npc's

Well it's merely a suggestion and idea. Whether or not anet wants to use a little bit of it or most of it, or maybe even none of it is up to them. I'd just be glad if we had something similar to this to make PVE a little different from PVP.

A PvE class? Don't you mean a farming class? What happened to balance? Even the assassin, the most pvp oriented class, has skills that are useful for PvE.

Why does it only have 3 attributes? All the others have four. That would make it somewhat lacking and weak when compared to other classes.

Honestly, making a pve only character in a game like Guild Wars where they are combining both PvE and PvP in areas like aspenwood makes this class obsolete before it was even created. This is something I'd expect to see in World of Warcraft maybe, but not Guild Wars.

Please change the name. There's no way that that name fits into Guild Wars.

Also, PvE is already VERY different from PvP. I don't think it needs a class based around creating keys from your gold to make it different.

By the way, how does a hangover make you attack faster?

Cool

You're sad Shifting. I tried to help you out on your class suggestion, and all you do is produce negativity instead of trying to fix or correct any kind of mistake and come to my suggestion and give it a bump. Thanks

Reading imp... Oh yeah, well then again I just tried to come up with an original name, I'm really not to picky what the class is called, just need something that someone labels what the class does.

Here's another skill I came up with: Moronic: Skill. You gain 1 pt for each skill you read.

So far you're at 1 pt! Way to go!

By the way, how does a hangover make you attack faster?

2pts!

And who knows? It's a game lol. <insert different effect that isn't an overpowering beetle here>

on the note of world of warcraft.....it actually wouldn't hurt to see these ideas of a peddler melded into all characters....perhaps not as a tertiary (sp) class but something like professions in WoW. for the people who don't know what i mean...

in WoW all characters can choose 2 side professions as a means of making items for trade or cash, with many utility skills like kai nui's peddler.

however...i do see one MAJOR problem with this class is that well.....there is almost 1 merchant in every map in factions and nightfall (ok dont go flaming me on this, i might be wrong), and then...if a-net could be bothered, they could really just put a storage agent somewhere in the map too...

It's not really supposed to be a useful profession except for in long missions and huge explorable areas, and it's made to be convenient to players.

but can u imagine leveling your peddler in....say....istani....and then to lvl 20 elsewhere? i assume the peddler doesnt fight exceptionally well, and cant exactly heal others exceptionally well either....

I guess you have a reading impairment aswell... This isn't a primary profession. It's an optional arsenal of skills players will be able to get for doing a few side quests after beating the game to assist with maybe the endgame elite mission or UW. By no means is this a primary class, it was never intended to be.

Nah, I come off as a bit rough and harsh some times. Internet is really sucky at conveying what a person's emotions are, and I don't mean to sound so nasty lol.
